Whitewell Inn

The Inn at Whitwell c1905

Note the middle portion (pulled down c1910) which was the old lodge where the Woodmote and Swainmote Courts for the Forest of Bowland met from early Tudor times onwards until about 1835. The far portion was added at this latter time by Peregrine Towneley who had recently bought a large portion of the Bowland Estates at auction.
